Clear vision, perfect fit

Contact Lenses, Tacoma, WA

Contact lenses offer a wide range of benefits over traditional eyeglasses. Unlike glasses, contact lenses won’t get fogged up and are a great option for people who are physically active or play sports. Many people also prefer contacts because they provide a more natural look than eyeglasses.

Types of contact lenses we offer

Soft lenses are the most common type of contact lenses, and they come in both daily and extended wear schedules. These lenses are made of soft plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

Although soft contact lenses are widely used, they may not be the best option for everyone. If you have keratoconus, astigmatism, or other conditions that prevent you from wearing regular contact lenses, specialty contact lenses may be a solution. Here are some of the specialty contact lenses we offer:

Prosthetic contact lenses

Prosthetic contact lenses work well for individuals who have eye scarring, congenital defects, or other disfigurements. They are specifically designed to cover a damaged or discolored portion of the iris to give it a more natural look. Most of these lenses are custom-made, so they fit the individual’s unique requirements.

Rigid gas permeable contact lenses

Rigid gas permeable (RGB) lenses are made of a durable type of plastic that allows oxygen to pass through the lens to the cornea. Unlike soft contact lenses, these lenses hold their shape even when you blink, providing sharper and clearer vision. RGB lenses are ideal for people with moderate to severe astigmatism, keratoconus, corneal scarring, or any other condition that affects the shape of the cornea.

Scleral contact lenses

Scleral contact lenses are larger than traditional contact lenses and rest on the sclera, or the white part of the eye. Since they rest on the sclera instead of the cornea, they are significantly more comfortable than regular contact lenses. They also provide sharper vision, especially for those with irregular corneas or other eye conditions. Additionally, they can help with chronic dry eyes and severe allergic conjunctivitis.

Multifocal contact lenses

Multifocal contact lenses are specially designed lenses that let you see clearly at different distances without having to wear glasses. The bottom part of the lens is for seeing things up close, while the top part is for seeing things far away. Multifocal contact lenses can help when you develop presbyopia, the age-related loss of near vision, after already having a vision problem like myopia.

Toric contact lenses

Toric contact lenses are designed to fit securely on the eye and correct astigmatism. Astigmatism is a common vision issue caused by an irregularly shaped cornea, which makes it difficult for your eyes to properly focus light, resulting in blurry or distorted vision. Toric contact lenses have a unique shape that helps compensate for the irregular curvature.

Cosmetic contact lenses

Cosmetic contact lenses are a popular way to quickly change your appearance. Cosmetic lenses let you change your eye color or enhance your natural eye color for a fun or dramatic effect. While these contact lenses can be worn with or without vision correction, you need to obtain a prescription since contact lenses can damage your eyes if they don’t fit exactly right.
